Analysis of the Relationship between Nameplate Screen Printing Ink and Solvents, and the Relationship between the Solubility of Solvents and Screen Cards
1. For printing equipment: adding inappropriate solvents can increase equipment friction, resulting in faster depreciation of printing equipment; At the same time, it may cause ink blocking and frequent downtime. Start up operation to accelerate component wear and reduce production efficiency.
2. For the ink itself, good solubility gives it a homogeneous appearance, stable viscosity and fluidity, and is not easy to gel. Adding appropriate solvents can fully achieve the effect of dilution and dispersion.
3. The commonly used solvents in nameplate screen printing ink are roughly divided into five categories: ketones, alcohols, benzene, esters, alkanes, and so on. The main function of solvents is to dissolve resin and dilute ink. Various inks should be carefully selected with appropriate solvents, such as in PVC systems where ketones can be dissolved, benzene can expand slightly, and alcohol can be gelatinized. Attention must be paid when selecting.
4. The relationship with printing ink film: The selection of solvent must fully consider the glossiness, flatness, residue, firmness, ductility, and adhesion of the printing ink film.
5. Solubility of cosolvent: The function of cosolvent is similar to that of the main solvent, so it is important to choose the correct cosolvent to avoid ink gelation, loss of fluidity, and stickiness.
6. The relationship between the use of solvents and air humidity: If quick drying solvents are used for printing with ink, when the temperature is above 90%, the solvent evaporates too quickly and absorbs a large amount of moisture from the air, resulting in poor ink fluidity, loss of gloss, and poor adhesion of the printed product.
7. The original specification and purity of the solvent (percentage): The original specification and purity of the solvent directly affect the solubility and dilution of the ink. If it is not the original solvent, it may contain a small amount of water or impurities, which has a significant impact on the quality of the nameplate printing, and may cause the printing surface to lose luster, adhesion to deteriorate, and plate blockage.
8. The evaporation rate of the solvent directly affects the drying rate of the ink. Due to the rapid development of printing technology and printing speed, it is necessary to carefully choose appropriate solvents, otherwise it will greatly affect the printing process, causing ink to dry too quickly and block the plate, and ink to dry too slowly and easily stick back.
