　　Nickel plating is one of the common electroplating processes in the production of signs: generally, silver signs mostly use nickel plating process, and less use silver plating process. Due to the fact that the effect of nickel plating is very similar to that of silver plating and easy to control costs, nickel plating is commonly referred to as silver plating in the industry. The appearance of nickel plated signs is very similar to that of silver plated signs, both appearing in bright silver color. The characteristic of nickel is that the color will not change significantly after electroplating, while the property of silver will easily oxidize and turn gray and black. For example, the surface of silver coins that have been passed down among the people presents a gray silver appearance, rather than a silver white effect. Due to its excellent stability and appearance, electroplating nickel is widely used in many label making products.

　　There are many materials that can be processed with nickel plating for label products, such as copper, iron, aluminum, zinc alloy, ABS plastic, etc., which can all be processed with nickel plating. Let's take a look at the characteristics of making electroplated nickel signs:

　　1. The stability of the electroplated nickel layer in the air is very high because metal nickel has strong passivation ability, and can quickly form an extremely thin passivation film on the surface, which can resist the erosion of atmosphere, alkali, and certain acids.

　　2. Electroplated nickel has extremely fine crystals and excellent polishing performance. The polished nickel coating can achieve a mirror like glossy appearance, while maintaining its luster for a long time in the atmosphere.

　　3. The hardness of nickel coating is relatively high, which can improve the wear resistance of the product surface. In the printing industry, the plating medium layer is commonly used to improve the hardness of the lead surface. Due to the high chemical stability of metallic nickel, some chemical equipment also commonly uses thicker plating layers to prevent erosion by the medium.

　　4. Nickel plating has a wide range of applications. It can be used as a protective decorative coating to decorate the surface of steel, zinc die castings, copper, aluminum alloys and plastics, and protect the base material from erosion or play a role in bright decoration. It is also commonly used for the intermediate coating of double-layer electroplating products to make the surface of the product smoother and more glossy. Perform a second electroplating of a thin layer of chromium or gold to improve the corrosion resistance and appearance of the nickel plated label.
