Analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of electroforming signs

There are several materials to choose from for metal electroforming signs, such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, nickel metal, zinc alloy, copper, and so on. In various fields, the scope of application is also becoming increasingly broad. In the selection of signage materials, we should pay attention to selecting materials based on the environment and conditions in which the signage is used. Because metal signs made of different materials also have different advantages and disadvantages, we need to be good at selecting them.

Let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages of nickel electroformed labels:

  1. Good anti-corrosion and wear resistance

Electroformed signs are generally treated with chromium plating, and the hardness of chromium is very high, reaching a hardness value of HV780-910. Stainless steel has a hardness value of HV180-650, which is much higher than stainless steel. For example, many superhard tool surfaces are treated with chromium plating to enhance their hardness and wear resistance. The electroplated signs will not change their appearance under long-term normal use.

  2. High brightness

Metal nickel has a highly polished effect, and after electroforming and polishing, it is chrome plated to achieve a high gloss mirror effect, which is more perfect than the mirror effect of stainless steel metal signs.

  3. The surface process effect is complex and diverse

During the production process of many metal electroformed signs, due to the limitations of the process, multiple style effects cannot be reflected on the surface of the same sign. However, electroformed signs can be used on the surface of the same sign to create surface effects such as diagonal, horizontal, matte, matte, mirror, three-dimensional, CD, corrosion, radium, and brushed, and have a strong sense of three-dimensional effect, making them the first choice for many high-end sign decorations.

  4. Stable chemical properties

The surface of electroformed signs is treated with chromium plating, but the chemical nature of chromium itself is not active. It only reacts with oxygen at temperatures above 600 ℃, and is relatively stable to water vapor and oxygen at room temperature. Therefore, this is why we use electroformed signs for a long time, and the surface still looks very bright.

Ultra thin nickel metal labels do not require molds (electroformed nickel thick labels require molds), and shipping speed is fast. Almost any desired effect color can be made.
