The color of metal nameplate printing: Use a 10x magnifying glass of the printing tool to look at the printed product. Under the magnifying glass, the color of the metal nameplate is actually some small dots, also known as "dots". Dots are a very important concept for metal nameplate printing and graphic design. There are only four colors of dots on this printed product: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, which are matched with a variety of metal nameplate colors, known as "four color printing". Four color printing actually involves using four types of ink to create an infinite number of metal nameplate colors, with the cyan ink resembling the lake blue in painting, magenta resembling rose red, and yellow approaching medium yellow.
In addition to four color printing of metal nameplates, there are also single color printing, dual color printing, and multi color printing. Most of the color albums, books, posters, flyers, and packaging we design use four color printing. Why can four types of ink match an infinite variety of colors, and why are these four types of ink used instead of other primary colors on metal nameplates;
① Green, magenta, and yellow are the three primary colors of metal nameplates in the color palette. They cannot be matched with other colors, but they can be matched with other colors.
② Black is also necessary, because when using only the three primary colors of the metal nameplate for color matching, the darkest color can only be a dark gray, which is not enough to represent many dark parts of the image. Moreover, even in the middle of the bright parts and metal nameplate, some black is needed. From the color separation plate, black is the skeleton of the entire image's brightness and darkness.
If we use painting pigments to match the color of metal nameplates, we can mix the three primary colors with black on the color palette, making some pigments more and some pigments less, in order to create the desired color. But the printing ink is not mixed first and then printed, but is directly mixed on paper. Just now, we have seen with a magnifying glass that the dots of four types of ink are arranged in a staggered manner, and the dots of each type of ink do not change in depth. Blue is the same blue, yellow is the same yellow, and so on. Therefore, in printing, making a certain type of ink more and a certain type of ink less depends on controlling the area of the dots and enlarging the area, The blue dot accounts for more, and the color tends to be blue, with small areas of magenta dot, yellow dot, and black dot interspersed to adjust the brightness and purity of the metal nameplate color.
